As part of the Mobile und Verteilte Systeme Android Praktikum, I worked on Local Detective, a location-based mobile game inspired by Scotland Yard.
The idea was to combine storytelling, exploration, and gameplay into a single immersive experience. Set in Munich, the game turns the city itself into the playing field. Players follow a crime story that unfolds through a built-in messaging system, receiving clues, updates, and narrative elements directly within the app.
To progress, you must physically visit specific locations around the city—blending digital interaction with real-world exploration. Along the way, you gather evidence, make decisions, and ultimately determine who the perpetrator is.
Key features include:
- Location-based gameplay across real places in Munich
- A story delivered via in-app messaging
- Multiple endings, depending on your choices
- A dual purpose as both a game and sightseeing experience
Local Detective explores how mobile systems can create engaging, context-aware experiences—turning a city into an interactive story.
